Lausanne: What to Do and Where to Go?

Posted on 11 May 2019 by admin (0)

Lausanne is on the northern shore of Lake Geneva. The two gorges river cutting through the city and this combines with the steep rise from the shore of the lake. Truly, the city is filled with natural beauty. There are plenty of things that you can do and see here. When you visit Lausanne, here are a few things that you can do.

Lausanne Cathedral

The only cathedral of the city is the Lausanne Cathedral. It was established during the 13th century. Viollet-le-Duc is the one who had designed the present architecture of the cathedral. I came to learn that this was his last big project before he passed away. This cathedral is a sight to marvel.

Ouchy Promenade

Take a walk on the long walkaway present just beside Lake Geneva. This is the best place if you want to spend some quiet time. I found a couple and families strolling around. Carry a book, sit down a bench, and just relax. Make sure you position yourself on the lakefront to get the best view.

Place De La Palud

It is a wedged-shaped pedestrian square located just at the heart of the city. The place is dominated by old apartment-like buildings and City Hall. The arcade of the building at the ground floor continues through to this Place de la Louve. Fontaine de la Justice is on the eastern side of the square. The panoramic view of the city from here is just great.

Tour De Sauvabelin

The loftiest point of the city is to be found in Sauvabelin. This is actually a viewing tower that is made of wood. It had been constructed in the year 2003. Climbing 151 steps to reach the top is just worth it. From the top, you will be able to view the Alps, Lake Geneva, French Alps, the Vaud Alps, and cityscape, too.
