Victoria: Explore The Charming City

Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia is sheltered by the mountains. The simply loved the mild climate of the city. Gardens and parks in the city are filled with flowers all-round the year. It is perfect for a long getaway for a weekend trip. There is plenty to keep you busy. Take a quick look at some of the things that you can do when you are in the city.

  • Royal British Columbia Museum

This provincial museum is located in between the Fairmont Empress Hotel and the Parliament Buildings. The museum is home to cultural and natural history in Canada. The three-dimension sites were a treat to my eyes. I took a walk through the rainforest and checked out the animals on the beaches. You will the replica of the ship which brought Captain Vancouver to the shore. At the Thunderbird Park, you will find some house poles and carved memorial.

  • Fairmont Empress Hotel

This is one of the best-loved landmarks of Victoria. The hotel has been designed by Francis M. Rattenbury. When I entered the huge lobby of this luxurious hotel, it appeared like I am journeying back to a time prior to the First World War. Here, the afternoon tea is served in excellent style. At the north side extension of the hotel, I came across a collection of many miniature scenes depicting the miniature world.

  • Butchart Gardens

Do not forget to visit the Butchart Gardens located at Brentwood Bay of Saanich Peninsula. The wife of a rich quarry owner, Jennie Butchart had started laying out the fragrant garden. It covers 20 acres of land. The rose garden, the sunken garden, Italian garden, and the Japanese garden are the best. You will also find fountains and pools in this garden. There are some exotic plants which are used for musical performances.
